This is a very exciting day for me. After 12 months of planning, dreaming and picturing it – my new website is finally here! And guess what, it doesn’t look anything like I imagined it would be!
Why did it take 12 months to get it up? Why doesn’t it look anything like what I imagined? Why am I so OK with that? There’s a story to it.
The story of the never-ending ‘coming soon’ page
I’ve been setting up and writing my own blogs for the last decade. Starting a new blog is always exciting, but I’m used to it. Launching my “website” seemed like a whole new and overwhelming experience to me.
A website always felt much more obligating. I’ll have to have an “About me” page and a “what I do” page and scary stuff like that. But I knew it had to be done, so 12 months ago I set up my “Coming Soon” page on my main domain roypovarchik.com
I planned to dive right in and create the most beautiful, passionate, UX-brilliant website ever. I started looking at all kinds of amazing WordPress templates, figuring out how to present what I do, who my clients are, what amazing projects and startups I’ve worked with and what we’ve accomplished. Well… you get the point.
There were two problems:
First, I just didn’t have the time; I was busy working, living, writing posts etc, etc. Second, “Not having the time” was an excuse so I wouldn’t have to deal with the challenge.
Basically the hype I’d created for myself was so big I was paralyzed. So I did nothing. Every few months I’d get back into it, start planning, get freaked out and do nothing. Until I decided enough is enough. I talk about MVP’s all day long but I couldn’t make my own.
Say hello to my website v 1.0!
So the new website is up. I think it looks pretty good and it has all the basic information potential clients need to know to decide if they’d want to contact me or not.
Is it perfect? Definitely not. Is it good enough for a work in progress? Absolutely!
I’ve decided it’s time to get something up in the air. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to be a great start, and it feels like this is a great start. In the next few months I’ll do some alterations in the design, copywriting, images… everything. But for now – my new website is finally here!

To celebrate, I’m going on a 4 day vacation in Athens. I kid you not.
Have a great weekend everyone!
